We have great news to share, Rebelde fans. Netflix just released its July 2022 new releases list and guess what musical series was on the list? Rebelde season 2! You read that right. A brand new season of Rebelde is coming this summer, and we’re so excited to share the official release date with you.
If you’re not familiar with the show, Rebelde is a reboot of the hit 2004 Mexican telenovela titled the same name. The first season premiered on Netflix in January, and fans of the original series swarmed the streamer to see if the reboot did justice to the original. Most people enjoyed the reboot, while others weren’t too fond of the new version.
Nevertheless, Netflix handed out a season 2 renewal just four days after the first season’s premiere. Then, there was a rumor going around that Rebelde season 2 had been filmed back-to-back with the first season. This caused many people to speculate that Rebelde season 2 would be coming to Netflix by the end of 2022, meaning that two seasons of the musical series would be released in a year. Although we knew there was a possibility, Netflix rarely releases two seasons of its shows in a year. So, we weren’t totally sold on the idea of the second season coming in 2022.
However, when one of Rebelde season 2’s newest stars posted a production still from the new season with a caption reading, “Almost there… @soyrebeldenetflix 2nd Season arrives in Summer 2022” on his Instagram, we started to believe that the second season will be landing on Netflix by the end of the year. But we needed an exact date. A summer release could be anywhere from June to September. Now, the streamer has announced the official release date and we shared it right below!
Get ready to mark your calendars because Rebelde season 2 is coming to Netflix on Wednesday, July 27, 2022! You can expect the complete second season to land on the streamer at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on July 27. If you live in the Midwest, you’re looking at a release time of 2:00 a.m. CT on its release date.
The total episode count and episode runtimes are unknown, but we’re probably looking at eight episodes with runtimes no longer than 50 minutes. This would make the second season similar to the first season.
We’re still waiting on the official trailer, and we’re expecting Netflix to release it by the end of June. Of course, you can count on us to share the trailer once it’s released.
